1964: The Beatles Conquer America

In February 1964, The Beatles visit the USA for the first time. A huge crowd awaits them at the airport. Their first TV appearance breaks all previous viewing records. Very soon, they had the top five singles at the top of the USA Billboard chart.

Back in the UK, they make two feature films: A Hard Day’s Night (1964) and Help (1965). Both are critical and commercial triumphs.

Exhaustion

An exhausting work schedule of recording, touring, and filming is beginning to take a physical and emotional toll.

They are also influenced by Bob Dylan. This is evident on Beatles for Sale, the fourth UK studio album released in December 1964
