Weirdest Beatles Song?

In January 1965, The Beatles needed a 'Ringo number' for their new album. George Martin suggested exploring something he had discovered deep in the Abbey Road vaults.

This was a rough draft of an unfinished Lennon and McCartney song from two years earlier.  

They dutifully recorded If You’ve Got Trouble in one session. On playback, they unanimously agreed it was not good enough. 

 

Ringo was then asked to choose a song to cover. He pulled on his cowboy boots and went for Buck Owens' Act Naturally. This would prove one of the most enduring staples of the Ringo repertoire.
